Welcome to Mrs. Amy Croel-Perrien's website! I have been working in education since 1995. Most recently I taught in a 4th/5th grade public Montessori program for West Ottawa Schools in Holland, Michigan. My experience also includes charter and private Montessori teaching. I am currently on a leave of absence from WO schools to work on a PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education at Michigan State University.

Field Trip Update and other news
I've attached an update about our Lansing field trip!
READING
In reading news many students are finishing up their literature circle books. As students finish a book they pick a project that will share the book with others. When this project is completed each group performs a reader's theater. Reader's theaters allow students to practice their fluency and expression. Following this, students will soon be picking a new lit. circle book to read!
Over the next few weeks students will be learning about point-of-view in literature. The highlighted link will share information with you about this topic in literature. It makes for some interesting discussions about books!
CONGRATULATIONS HOPE!
The Hope Women's Basketball Team has made it into the Final Four! GO HOPE!!

Latest News!
A note should be coming home at the end of the week giving parents more information about the events on our Celebration of Learning day. I will need a classroom parent who would be willing to help at school between 3:45-4:30 p.m. If you are willing and able, please give me a call!
COMPLIMENTS
Where to start? First, let me pay the entire class a compliment! They were on their very best behavior at the Grand Rapids Symphony concert this week! The music was amazing and our students were the best behaved there. What a beautiful concert. A wonderful way for your family to enjoy the Grand Rapids Symphony is the summer Picnic Pops series. We have attended for several summers. These evening concerts are outside at Cannonsburg Ski Area in July and have wonderful activities for children. It's a great way to introduce children to the symphony!
Today, the 5th graders received a compliment from Senora Holmes. She told me the 5th graders were hard-working, getting work completed every week and paying close attention to their assignments and making sure they were being completed to the very best of their ability.
THANK YOU ABBY AND RACHAEL!
Today we had the pleasure of meeting Abby Phillips and Rachael Kutney--both players on the Hope College Women's Basketball Team. They were our guest readers today--reading some great children's books and then happily answering a litany of questions from the class. "What's your major? How old are you? What's your favorite restaurant? Do you like Bananas? What's your favorite movie?" These questions were asked and MANY MORE! When they needed to leave, the class wished them the best of luck at their Friday Sweet Sixteen game. (I think the kids would have continued to ask MORE questions if given the chance!)
